This is legitimately the best obit ever, featuring such lines as “He particularly hated Day Light Saving Time, which he referred to as The Devil’s Time,” and “One of his regrets was not seeing his girl, Hillary Clinton, elected President.”Day 293: Music Saturdays
Today’s song is “Sweet Lorraine” by Patty Griffin, who could become one of my favorite people very quickly because she’s amazing. Shout out to Hilary Lehman for sending me this video that led me to download all her albums off of iTunes. Thanks, Hildawg! <—-if you meet her, call her that SHE LOVES THAT NICKNAME LOVES IT
I equally hate and love you for this, Andrea.

Pope Benedict XVI today in his farewell address. While Cardinals gather in Rome to choose a new Pope, the Vatican is reeling from scandals—child sex abuse, corruption at the Vatican bank, the leaking of secret Church documents. On Fresh Air today veteran Vatican reporter, John Thavis, details this unprecedented time in the history of the Catholic Church. (via nprfreshair)
Having watched this FASCINATING HBO documentary on the sex abuse in the Catholic Church this weekend, I’ll just say it’s pretty clear that God wasn’t sleeping. It was the people who were charged with the governance of the church that were willingly, obstinately comatose.
